Rethinking the Concept
This week took us in a new direction.
We came to the lab with our idea for a podcast friendship table, but after presenting it to the mentors we were encouraged to open our thinking and explore other possibilities. This helped us realize we needed a wider perspective on the problem.
We also completed the “Perfect Assistant” exercise, where we walked through a day in the life of our user and wrote what an ideal helper would say to them. This made the user’s emotional experience much clearer and helped us reconnect with their real needs throughout the school day.
With these insights, we held a group meeting and developed a new concept: the Focus Orb.
It is a small, calming object that stays with the child during the day and helps them regulate stress in key moments such as before school, at the school gate, in class, and during breaks.
The shift this week gave us a clearer understanding of the problem and a more focused direction for the solution. Next week we will continue exploring and refining the concept.
